Welcome to the blog....

Harlem by Langston Hughes

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore— And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over— like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Dreams. We all have them, and hopefully, we will all continue to achieve them. Dreams span time and they change and develop as we evolve. As we begin our discussion of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, I would like each of you to think for a moment about the dreams you may had or grew up with. They can be simple or complex, related to a profession or not. In our first posting, I would like each person to reflect on something that they have strived for or are currently working towards. Feel free to respond to your classmates' responses as well.

Dreams are something everyone hopes to achieve someday. My number one dream in life is to become a teacher. Ever since I was younger I have always enjoyed playing school with my siblings. In school I am a member of the Future Teachers program. In order to be a part of this club you must be assigned to a teacher either at the middle school or Union East. I chose Mrs. Lillis who teaches second grade over at Union East. The first day I visited there she ran up to me and hugged me. She already had me teaching lessons the first week I helped out. I realize that teaching is not all about fun, you also have to correct and grade papers too. This experience has given me the opportunity to observe the tasks a teacher has to perform throughout her day. In order to achieve this dream I am going to work hard throughout my years of high school and college. Someday I hope that I will be able to teach second grade over at Union East.

Dreams are goals that everyone wants to fulfill sometime in their lives. Dreams can take a long time to achieve in order for one to feel successful. Since I was a little girl I always had the urge to become a teacher. When me and my sister's were growing up we used to play school and take turns being the teacher. My favorite part about this was putting stickers on the papers and also writing on the black board. Right now in school I am part of Future Teacher's which gives me much experience. I have been assigned by Mrs. Nuchereno to Mrs. Crowe's second grade classroom. I was very excited because Mrs. Crowe had me when I was in second grade. The first day I went in their little kids looked at me and was astonished that they had a high school student helping them out.
Mrs. Crowe had me reading and working with a group of students. I did not realize how many questions little kids ask. I realized that teaching has its rewards and also can not always be fun. This experience has given and showed me what a teacher does throughout the school day. I know that in order to become a teacher I have to be willing to work hard to peruse my most rewarding dream
